'n Klein Storie vir Beeldspraak

Die Mees interessante story – M.F.Arnold

Op ‘n dag sit ‘n man soos ‘n boemelaar (vergelyking). Vir ‘n oomblik trek ‘n helder ster (metafoor) sy aandag. ‘n Baie ordentlike man staan voor hom. “Hoekom is jy so verlore, verlee en verward? (Alliterasie)”; se die man. ‘n Groot, stoot van hoop (assonansie) gryp hom aan. “My probleem is so groot soos ‘n berg” ( hiperbool).

Holistic Miniature Story for Figures of Speech

An incredible story by M.F.Arnold

One day a man behaving like a dog (Simile) met a sparkling star (metaphor). She was packing pennies in packets for the pockets of people in poor places (alliteration). As she was talking and walking she was unaware of his stalking (assonance). Her goodness was to him as big as a mountain (hyperbole) and he felt small. His inner-self had suffered a civil war (oxymoron and pun), when he saw such beauty, because he recognised his inner ugliness. She turned around and said: ‘Are you looking for someone?” (irony – he is looking at her and for her). He looked at her as if she was a crown (Metonymy).  “A mouse (metaphor) I am in your presence, my dear.”  Her cat smiled (personification). The clatter (onomatopoeia) of his teeth showed his nervousness. She calmly told him: “Ignorance is strength (paradox) when one is open to knowledge”. This was to him like a noisy atomic blast (understatement). He realised that she saw through him. He knew that he felt her status with his first glance and he knew that change for him is now instantaneous. As he realised that he had fallen for her, he dropped dead (pun).   He might not have known the  ABC’s (synecdoche) of a good life. He might have lived like a brother of the bad, but he did not die with them like a fool (antithesis).  He passed away (euphemism) a valiant gentleman.

Back to the Origin

Assalaamu ‘alaykum

Dear Parents, Guardians and new Applicants

It is our pleasure to announce that, although the children and parents were shocked to hear that we will no longer offer the national senior certificate examination and CAPS curriculum per se (due to the enormous  Government  Price for accreditation R56000 for independent schools),  our children want to continue as far as possible with ICRA Comprehensive School. The reasons given were:
1.       1.They love the Holistic Leisure Learning (HLL) curriculum and methodology , teachers’ support and the Qualitative Resources
2.       2. They value the freedom and autonomy they enjoy at the school to push themselves beyond grade requirements and to follow their talents.
3.       3. They feel like a family, being at ICRA.
4.        4. The Qur’anic recitals and Tafsier in the mornings are valuable to them
5.       5. Some parents have indicated that they would like their children to finish the Holistic Senior Coaching Certificate (HSCC) at ICRA. We are encouraged by this commitment. They are putting their Trust in Allah SWT to Grant their children success in the future with the HSCC – in shaa Allah. May Allah SWT accept their intentions and dua’s.
ICRA Comprehensive School will holistically offer all the standard subjects on Grade 12 and above for the home school purposes

The ICRA Business News:
ICRA will offer those who do not want to complete the academic Grade 11 and 12 or those who  finish matric elsewhere , to become  a partner in ICRA’s business - The ICRA Film-Art-Design-Drama Studio  (ICRA-FADDS) at only R200 a month. Other Designs schools’ monthly fees are from R2000 upward for only one type of art form. The ICRA-FADDS –in shaa Allah-will offer practical exposure and skills development in  the above productions – Film, Art, Design or Drama. The idea is, in shaa Allah, that ICRA youth will be able to earn through their artistic talents from shows,  exhibitions and sales – in shaa Allah.
Design students at ICRA have already offered to be part of the skills development team for the ICRA –FADDS, after they finish Matric at ICRA or else-where. That spirit is heart-warming.
We are all looking forward to the full roll-out of Holistic Leisure Learning (HLL) and the establishment of the youth employment future plans of ICRA-FADDS.
A most important development of HLL is that we are moving away from conventional full-scale June and Final Exams. Exams and Tests will be happening on a continuous basis, but Reports/Assessments will still be issued quarterly – and it will include the students’ achievements in each quarter.
Please be prepared that more orals and practicals will be expected  from ICRA students to qualify for the Holistic Foundation, Junior [equivalent to Grade 7] and Senior Coaching Certificates [equivalent to Grade 12]– in shaa Allah.

My new Publication: Holistic Curriculum-related Reflections [HCrR], which has now been featured in the Argus 19-9-2018 as The Book for a new International Educational Model that answers the international education and youth employment needs, now Alghandu lillaah allows Muslims to guide all people towards international success personally and communally - in shaa Allah. The Book is perfect for home-schooling and as an additional, progressive resource to accelerate children's academic abilities. Schools that have just had a 20 minute taste of HCrR reported that their children in transformed into articulate students immediately thereafter - Algahmdu lillah.  The HCrR  will also advance madrassa education to a very high level. Students who do The Community-based HSCC with ICRA full-time or part-time, will have 17 subjects integratively, holistically shown, on their Progress Report which will allow them to have an edge on their CV's . ICRA is now focusing on its Youth Employment Project, after having all the HLL resources and learning program completed, Alghamdu lillaah. Your support will, in shaa Allah, make a new progressive city possible where people of all faiths and persuasions will together progress as a family. Cape Town can do this because of our history of tolerance and respect for each other's strengths and faiths. in shaa Allah. Let's become the attraction for True Quality Holistic Education and Tourism - In shaa Allah

Shuk’ran for All your support and Dua’s
Keep well – in shaa Allah

Holistic Senior Certificate

786

Assalaamu ‘Alaykum wa Raghmatullaahi wa Barakaatu
Dear Parents & Guardians
Re: ICRA Holistic Certifications
The South African National Senior Certificate Curriculum and Assessment criteria have changed several times and will change again in the near future. This is often a knee-jerk reaction strategy of the NED upon the poor results of the Matrics and it disorientates the whole education fraternity. Many Subject curricula have been watered down and assessment criteria have dropped to help students get through school. The result of this is that universities no longer accept the Senior Certificate as sufficient for university entrance. Universities thus have their own entrance examinations. In the light this, our school has been planning a more qualitative certification for our students to ensure that they are well informed and more empowered when they leave ICS – in shaa Allah.
Alghamdu Lillah, We are honoured to inform you that after meetings with your children it has been accepted, with excitement from students and staff, that ICRA Comprehensive School will offer our own Holistic Senior Certificate (HSC). In our Holistic Leisure Learning (HLL) atmosphere, which integrate grades and subjects, our eager students will be able to write the HSC in Grade 10 or 11 or over two years. When they arrive in Grade 12 they would already possess a HSC and which would have also prepared them for the State Matric, because HSC includes South African matric requirements. This HSC will be our stabilising curriculum which allows ICS students to have a holistic knowledge that empowers them, not only for the state matric, but the HSC will be a bonus to their CV when applying for further studies or jobs – having TWO Senior Certifications if they opt to do the NSC– in shaa Allah. The HSC’s curriculum includes all needed knowledge that a student needs to become a holistic person. The HSC will have two building blocks for admission – the Holistic Foundation Certificate (HFC) to be written in Grade 3 and the Holistic Junior Certificate (HJC) to be written in Grade 9 – in shaa Allah. This program will, in shaa Allah, start in 2017.
The HSC, HJC and the HFC will have two parts 150 marks Examination and 150 practical presentation mark to ensure that all students achieve a level of success that honours them with these added certificates.
The Integrated Content of the HSC, HJC and HFC will include 20 Holistic Leisure Learning (HLL) Core Integrated Topics that students must pass on an Introductory Level (HFC), Comparative Level (HJC) and Analytical Level (HSC). The HLL Core Integrated topics for Holistic Certifications are: : Biodiversity, Markets, Formulae and Calculations, Interpretations of Information, Graphical representation, Report Writing, Cycles, Design, Innovation, Conservation, Employment, Personal Development, Planning and Progression, Social Development, Aesthetics, Growth, Defence, Beliefs, Tourism. These topics will guide every specific subjects delivery - allowing all teaching and exposures to have a natural integration through the whole school.
The above will be written within the HLL Integrated Activity Areas: Nature (Bio, Geo), People (LO, Hist), Languages(Eng, Afr Arab), Trade (Acc, Econ, Tour), Calculations (Math, Phys, Navigation), Construction (Art, Design) , Micro- and Telescopic (Research & Experimentation). The written examination for the HSC will be 3hrs, HJC (2hrs) and HFC (1hr). Practical Presentations will be 1 hour.
For any further information please contact the principal.

Reality of Politics

786
Reality of Politics – M.F Arnold     2016-04-09

Is Politics about voting to give your right away to make a change in your country, to someone else? YES. Is the politics of officials, waiting for people to complain, before they do what is obviously needed in a society/ city/ country?NO Is a political position, sitting in an office and making yourself inaccessible through the hierarchical office-bearers “below” you?NO. Is politics about making a difference, as a holistic person, in the lives of people without them having to beg / protest or fight for it?YES. We give our right away, for making a change, through our votes.  In real terms we forsake our right to do something positive and wait for someone else to do it. Examples – people litter because they have voted for council to pick it up. We vote for government to educate our children and in that way we effectively empower them to stop us from educating our own children. This is the kind of modern-day-city-political-stupidity we have all become victims of, unless we wake up to the ways we are disempowered.  Why must we vote for someone to help us and when we ask for help they are not available, because they are too busy seeing to things they deem as “more important”? It is often later found that political figures use the vote of people to empower themselves to do what they like- “democratic-dictatorship”. When are we going to see through the smokescreens?

The reason why we become blind to the obvious manipulations is because state educational systems and media dumb us down. What is ‘politically-correct’ is often mass illusion. The manipulators are able to do this because media and education appeals to our lower desires for position, control, constant relaxation, ego-worship, fear, insecurity and passing the buck to others. The ”powers” decide what the public should know, how they should know it and where they should get it from. Any other means becomes “a national security issue”.

South Africa is a miracle and we must continue keeping it so. If we fall short of our duty to follow the dream of Mandela, we will all perish. The education is in a crisis. Our youth are unemployed. Some Government and City Council officials are corrupt and all we do is complain in media and social media about our woe’s , but few take up the challenge to create and support new movements. We have all been taught how to sit and wait to be educated and sit and wait to be served- but in real terms we have been brainwashed to be manipulated for the benefit of the few rich people for whom the whole western system has been designed to make them richer and everyone else the spectators and audience of their successes (Noam Chomsky). Just ask yourself the question: Why is there so much effort and air-time given to the exchange rate and investment market news? The majority of the people are not investors and the investors do not really care about the welfare of the masses. The poverty and debt of the masses are their only interest, because that gives them power and the constant media coverage of their needs and their power allows everyone to want it. This gives them the chance to create “structures, institutions, accreditations” that will frustrate our “dream to be like them” – the conquered imitates the conqueror, because he/she feels that is the only way to power (Ibn Khaldun). What we do not realise is that their systems create the necessary debt of others for them to stay in power. It’s like dangling the carrot in front and the string just gets longer.

As citizens we must start somewhere. It is my suggestion that we start with our confidence to present a new educational model that will ensure jobs for each matriculant that passes OUR chosen Holistic Qualitative Matric Exams – in which all will pass – with their own interest and wishes intact. Well, why must we start there? Our present educational bodies had to raise half the matric subjects’ marks just to get a pass percentage for the country. That means that the education department has failed to provide quality educational infrastructure and service. We thus have an unsuccessful body of service that actually serves as the accrediting body for educational institutions! As parents we must not accept such blatant incompetent bodies to accredit the education of our children. If we do, we will fail our children. Parents and business must unselfishly guide the education department towards qualitative service provision for our children and the citizens so that we, as a nation, can ensure peace and prosperity. To see what work has already been done towards this reality, Google “Business, Parent Educational Consulting (BPEC)” – a free-service national association that has already made some qualitative strides to the positive transformation of education towards the Holistic Learning culture and sustainable youth employment.

If there are no jobs for our youth when they pass matric, then that is another a reason for us to accept that we are putting unqualified people in charge of the future of our children. Finland has the highest scores in international Maths-Science examinations, yet their schools do not have external examination bodies that control exams and results. There is thus scientific proof that prescriptive, external state assessments are counter-productive and that when societies are free to educate their children, how they see fit for holistic, qualitative international standards, then that society can flourish.
So what do we do? If just over 50% of the population vote for people they must afterwards remind to be fair, then the rest of the non-voters can decide to support the local individuals and groups who make a difference to the lives of the people in the neighbourhood or city. Such unselfish, hardworking, yet down-to-earth individuals are in every community – but we fail to accredit them, because we often prefer to support those in the lime-light – seeking through them “accreditation” for ourselves. The NodebtYouth employment strategy & SEEED (socio-economic-education & environmental development) Project, which employs Holistically informed students in self-sustainable jobs is one program in the country  that can be supported with only a R50-R100 per month (published in Leadership Magazine Oct 2004; “Youth upliftment –Seeking the path from democratic franchise to personal empowerment – Arafah Fakier), but its multiplier effect is enormous - Google “NoDebtYouth” and “Bo-Kaap:Helper - Paramedic Fund” for further details.
I am sure that there are various other sustainable projects that can get your support to ensure that the citizens are not paralysed by promises from politicians that never materialise and leave the city with more fears and insecurities.  Let your voice be heard through your regular personal contributions that matter, because it will offer quality qualifications and youth employment – the urgent needs of South Africa. When we, as adults, empower our youth, they will, by their natural high instincts, care for us – and if we don’t, the youth will use their lower natural instincts to destroy us. Remember that the western way of life is geared to frustrate the youth so that they can become the armies to protect investors’ interests – the core reason for all the wars and civil wars. Let’s have peace and prosperity by supporting real people with real and proven records of community help and support.

I have worked on Holistic Leisure Learning (HLL) as a new paradigm for the development of a society since 1989. This was the response to my own research on child abuse, because I discovered   that the Chief child-abuser is prescriptive, state-driven education that breaks down the self-worth of enquiring minds and teaches children to obey adults in authority. This allows other child-abusers the free reign to abuse children and teenagers further. It may be that you will not agree with me, but my challenge is that you engage with me and other like-minded people who see through the smokescreens of western-hierarchical-indoctrination which divided the value of knowledge in such disconnected fragments & periods (for “specialisation” in Capitalistic, industrial, mass production) that the holistic growth of nations cannot develop. The 2008/9 Capitalistic economic crash of major banks is proof that western educational models have failed societies. The rich have survived the economic crash, but the poor are still suffering and the middle class is in more debt ‘ just to keep up with the Jones’ – the ultimate mantra of western,  state-driven education and media.

Essay: Integration/ The Wealth of Nations/ The Value of Holistic Life/Development/ Holism…
The world is a bowl of everything - so is a country. Yet the diversity of life can comfortably be connected via 20 core topics that naturally integrate. A sequential connection between the topics gives value and purpose to all learning within the context of the value of a nation/people. These topics are: biodiversity, markets, formulae and calculations, interpretations of information, graphical representation, report writing, cycles, design, innovation, conservation, employment, personal development, planning and progression, social development, aesthetics, growth, defence, beliefs, cultures and the 20th topic, tourism.

A country’s biodiversity is the richness of that country. Every natural resource and species creates viable markets that allow the country to trade within its borders and with the rest of the world. The understanding of formulae and calculations allows the nation to extract the resources from its land. If the nation is unskilled, the richness of the resources of the country cannot be used to the full. The ability to interpret information is thus crucial. Reading, writing, Maths, science and business skills are core skills that must be integratively and holistically learnt and mastered by the society to gain full value of the country. Graphical representations are quick and easy ways of seeing trends and thus report writing on the viability or threats to the development of the country can thus be written accurately.

Cycles can easily be identified in the flow of life’s activities. Design elements and principles become visible in the cycles and new ideas and innovation can be identified with careful scrutiny of the patterns that become visible. Biodiversity, skills, and innovation make the conservation of resources and skills an important dimension of that society. A society that does not conserve becomes wasteful and destructive. This will lead to their annihilation. Conservation of biodiversity creates enormous employment for everyone in the country. Conservation results in sustainability which in turn creates stability which is needed for growth. Waste creates enormous unemployment, hardship and even death. Jobs allow each individual the opportunity to focus on his/her personal development within the context of consideration for the environment and humanity. Planning and proper processes become crucial for personal and social development. An aesthetic value and beauty is the result of careful planning and processing.

A society can only grow when all their resources are employed to the full and all in that society values what they have. Mutual respect is necessary for growth. It is only in such a society that every member will find it necessary to defend the beliefs, cultures and property of each member and group in the nation. Such a society’s interdependence and prosperity become visible and other societies would like to learn from them and experience their progress. Tourism to such a country will then increase and foreigners would then like to settle in such a progressive country. The foreigners, who seek citizenship in such a caring and environmentally conscious society, will then bring their skills and knowledge to the host country, thus increasing the biodiversity of their new found home.

People without the value of belief, lack the knowledge, skills and consideration for others and the environment. They will self-destruct. Social cohesion requires knowledge of Divine Power and indebtedness of individuals to a Higher Source Who allows all facets of life to integrate so beautifully. Knowledge is a necessity and the correct use of it, is wisdom, a gift that only comes to those who reflect on the aesthetic/beauty and value of everything. The scholars of deep knowledge and wisdom relate to mankind that God is the Possessor of Beauty and He loves beauty. A society that values their assets receives more and is beautiful in all aspects. A truly rich society is one that values what they have. The value of integration of seemingly unrelated topics, creates a holistic value that increases the richness of a society.
