Basic Sequence of the Um-rah
1. Bath for Igh-raam
2. Put on Igh-raam
3. Salaah for the Igh-raam
4. After Solaah seek forgiveness
5. Niy-yah for Donning the Ihraam for Umrah
6. Now Recite the Tal-bi-yah (Lab-bayk) 3X
7. Recite Solawaat on Nabie Mughammad SAW, with the inclusion of Nabie Ebrahim RA’s name in
(what we normally do in the Taghi-yah of the Salaah)
8. Now ask Allah SWT to Accept your Umrah actions
9. Make Dua for your family and friends
10. Recite Tal-biyah until you reach the Ka’ba
11. On entering the Gha-ram where the Gajr Aswad is, Raise hand towards it by the Green light, and begin the Tawaaf 7 times
12. Perform the Two Ra-ka-aat of the Tawaaf
behind the Ma-qaam Ebraheem
13. After the Salaah of the Tawaaf, make dua for Allah SWT’s Acceptance of your Umrah
14. Drink ZamZam
15. Now Go and Saa-i from Saffa to Marwa 7X
16. After the Saa-i, cut a piece of your hair (or Shave all for men; females 2.5cm of each side of the head minimun 3 hairs)
17. Umrah is complete
18. Leave to Bayt(hotel), take off Ighraam and resume normal life3
Basic Sequence of the Ghaj
1. Bath for the Ighraam
2. Put on Ighraam
3. Solaah for the Ighraam
4. Seek for forgiveness
5. Recite the Niyyah for the Ghadj
6. Recite the Talbiyah (Labbayk) 3x
7. Solawaat on The Prophet SAW include Nabie Ebrahim AS
8. Make Dua for Accceptance of the Ghaj
9. Make Dua for Family and Friends
10. Now go to Mina
11. Salaah Thur, Asr and Magrieb there
12. Now leave for Arafa on the 9th Day of Thil Ghijjah between Thuhr and till Just before Fajr the next day (Stand after Thuhr and Plea for Allah SWT’s Mercy and Make dua for everyone else also)
13. When the sun sets go to Muzdalifah, remembering Allah SWT all the time
14. That night is the Eidul Adghaa
15. Pick up 7 pebbles
16. Stay there until After Fajr
17. Leave for Mina to Pelt the Jamaraat tul Aqaba
18. Repeat the Dua Rabba naa Aatinaa fiddunya Ghasataw wa fil Aagirati Ghasanatan wa Qinaa Athaabannaar
19. Pelt the Big Jamaraat 7 times
20. After the Pelting the Talbiyah stops4
21. Takbeer now because the Eid now starts for the Ghujjaaj
22. After the pelting cut the hair
21. Go to the Gharam and perform the Tawaaful Ifaada and the Saai
22. Then return to yout hotel
23. Remove the Ighraam
24. Dress normal and return to Mina
25. The 11th Day of Thil Ghijja is the First Day of Tashreeq
26. At Mina pick up pebbles
27. Start pelting the Jamaraat - the small, then middle then the big one, any time after Zawaal up until the sun sets
28. The next day the Pilgrim picks up another 21 and throw the three Jamaraat again
29. Return to Mecca
30. Perform normal ibaadah
31. Before leaving Makka perform the Tawaaful Widaa
( N.B. a woman with Ghayd can peform all the Ghaj rituals, but is exempted from Tawaaf, she can perform it after her period, but care taken that she does not cut her hair because she is stil in a state of ighraam for Ghaj)5

Travel Solaahs
When traveling you are allowed to combine and shorten Raka-aat for Waqts (times of Solaah)
1. Between Johannesburg and Jeddah
2. Between Jeddah and Madina
3. Madina and Makka
4. On Arafah during Wukuuf (standing to Appeal to Allah SWT for Forgiveness and Appeal for Help)
5. On Muz-da-li-fa (when you collect the stones)
Types of Jam(Joining Salaahs)
1. Asr is brought forward to Thuhr on Arafah6
2. Magrieb is taken back to Ishaai at Muzdalifah
3. On traveling you can bring Asr forward to Thuhr or Thuhr back to Asr, each will be shortened to two Raka’aat each
4, When you bring Asr forward to Thuhr. Do the Two Thuhr Ra-ka-aats first, then immediate stand up and Iqaama for Asr, then make its two Raka’aat
5. When you bring Thuhr back to Asr, you do Thuhr First, then Iqaama for Asr

Salaam out of two raka’aat of Thuhr then Iqaa-ma for Asr’s Two Raka-aat
This Niyyah: Nawaytu u-sol-lee farda so-laa-til-’asr Mak-suu-ra-tan (shortened) Rak’a-tayni(two ra-ka-aat) Lil-laa-hi ta’aa-laa
After this, Salaam you can make thikr and dua and beform the sunnah
2. Bringing Thuhr back into Asr
Na-way-tu U-sal-lee Far-dath-thuh-ri Mak-7
suu-ra-tan (shortened) rak’a-tay-ni, maj-mu’a-tan(combined) ma’al (with) ‘Asr Jam-ut-ta’ a-gier (bringing Thuhr back) a-daa-an Lilaahi ta’aala

Na-way-tu, U-sol-lee Sun-na-tas-so-laa-tis-sa-fa-ri, rak-a-tay-ni, mus-taq-bil-al-qi-be-la-ti, a-daa-an, lil=laa-hi ta’aa-laa
I have intended to solaah two raka-aat, one who faces the Qibla performing it now for Allah SWT The Exalted
1.1. In the first Ra-ka ah recite : Qul Yaa Ay-yu-hal Kaa-fi-ruun
1.2.. In second Ra-ka-ah recite: Qul-hu-wal-laah
2. Now make the following Du’aa after the Solaah:
Bis-mil-laa-hir-ragh-maa-nir-ragheem (in the Name of Allah SWT Most Gracious Most Merciful)
Al-ghamdu lil-laa-hi Rob-bil-’aa-la meen (Praise and Thanks is for Allah SWT, the Lord and Sustainer of all the universes) Was-so-laa-tu (Blessings) was-sa-laa-mu (and Peace) ‘a-laa(upon) Say-yi-di-naa (Our Leader) Mughammadin wa ‘alaa (and upon) aa-li-hi (his family)wa-sog-bi-hi (and his friends) wa sal-lim (and Peace) ajje-ma-’een (all of them)

i-lay-ka (to You) ta-waj-jah-tu ( I have turned my face/attention) wa-bi-ka (and in Thee)a’ som-tu ( I seek safety)

Fee-nee (protect me from evils) maa (what) A-ham-ma-nee (from what distresses me) wa (and) maa (what) lam(does not) Ah-tam-ma-bi-hee(the anxiety of it)

In the Name of Allah The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Oh Allah SWT place blessings and peace upon our Leader Mughammad SAW, and all his family and

Al-laa-hum-ma, ta-waj-jah-tu, wa bi-ka ‘a-som-tu
Oh Allah I have turned my attention to Thee and ask 10
Thee for my safety
Al-laa-hum-mak-fee-nee, maa A-ham-ma-nee, wa maa lam, ah-tam-ma-bi-hee
Oh Allah SWT Protect me from evil that distresses me and the anxiety of it
Al-laa-hum-ma, Zow-widd-nit Taqq-wa, wag-fir lee li-tham-bi
Oh Allah SWT Grant ne Taqwa and Forgive my sins
3. Leaving the House. Right Foot First Say:
Bis-mil-laa (In the Name of Allah SWT) Ta-wak-kal-tu ( Placed my trust) ‘a-lal-laa-hi (upon Allah SWT), Laa (There is No) Ghow-la (power) wa (and) Laa (no) Quw-wa-ta (strength) il-lal -laa (except by /in/with Allah SWT)
4. Getting into the car and plane say:
A-’uu-thu (I seek Refuge)bil-laa-hi (by Allah SWT) mi-nash (from) Shay-toaan (satan) Nir-ra-jeem (the outcast)
Bies-mil-laa-hir-ragh-maa-nir-ra-gheem ( in the Name of Allah SWT The Compassionate, The Merciful) Alghamdu lil-laa-hi-Rob-bil-’aa-la-meen

I seek refuge by Allah SWT from satan the outcast.

Al-laa-humma (Oh Allah SWT) haa-thaa (This is)
Gha-ra-mu ( the Sacred place of ) Nabiyyika (Your Prophet SAW) Fajj-’al-haa (so make it) lee (for me) wa (and) Qaa-ya-ta (So make it a Protection) lee(for me) mi-nan(from) Naa-ri(Fire) wa (and) a-maa-nan (security) mi-nal (of) ‘a-thaa-bi (punishment) wa(and) Suu-il (bad) Ghi-saab (Reckoning)
Al-laa-hum-ma, haa-thaa Gha-raa-mu, Na-bee-yi-ka wa qaa-ya-ta lee mi-nan-naa-ri wa a-maa-nan min ‘a-thaa-bi, wa suu-il-ghi-saab
Oh Allah SWT This is The Sacred Precinct of Your Prophet SAW, so make it a protection for me from the Fire and a security from punishment and a bad 13

6, Before entering the Masjied of The Prophet SAW
Bis-mil-laa-hi (In the Name of Allah SWT) was- so-laa-tu (Blessings) was-sa-laa-mu (and Peace) ‘a-laa (upon) Ra-su-lul-laa-hi (The Messenger of Allah SWT) sol-lal-laa-hu (Blessings of Allah SWT) ‘a-lay-hi(upon him) wa-(and) Sal-lam (Peace)
Al-laa-hum-ma (Oh Allah SWT) Sol-lee(Blessings) ‘a-laa (upon) Mughammad, wag-fir-lee (and forgive me) thu-nuu-bee (my sins) Waf-tagh-lee(and open for me) abb-waa-ba(doors) Ragh-ma-tik (of Your Mercy)
Bis-mil-laa-hi, was-so-la-waa-tu, was-sa-laa-mu ‘a-laa Ra-suu-lil-laa-hi, sol-lal-laa-hu ‘a-lay-hi ,wa-sal-lam. Al-laa-hum-ma Sol-lee ‘a-laa Mughammad, wag-fir-lee thu-nuu-bee waf-tagh-lee abb-waa-ba Ragh-ma-tik.
In the Name of Allah SWT Blessings upon The messenger of Allah SWT, Blessings upon him and Peace. Oh Allah SWT Blessings upon Prophet Mughammad SAW, and please forgive me all my sins and open Thy Doors of Mercy.14
7. The Solaah to Greet The Masjied
Na-way-tu (I have intended) u-sol-laa-tee (that I Solaah) Ta-gheey-ya-tul ( Greeting) Masjied(The Masjied) Ra-ka-a-tay-ni(Two Raka-aat) Lillaa-hi-(for Allah SWT) Ta-’aa-laa( The Exalted)
Na-wat-tu u-lol-lee Ta-ghee-ya-tul mas-jied ra-ka-tay-ni lil-laa-hi-ta-’aa-laa
I intend to solaah two rak-aats to greet the Masjied for Allah SWT

11. Now Turn around to face the Qiblah and make This Dua.

Al-laa-hum-ma (O! Allah SWT, I earntly beseech Thee) in-na(verily) Ka(Thou) Qul-ta(Says) wa(and) Qow-lu-kal(and Thou Says) Ghaq(The Truth) wa (and) low(if)an-na-(verily) hum(they) idh(then) tho-la-muu(they wrong) an-fu-sa-hum(themselves)jaa-uu-ka(they come to you) fas-tag-fi-rul-laah(ask for forgiveness from Allah SWT for them)was-tag-fir-la-hu-mur-ra-suu-lu (and they ask for forgiveness from the Messenger SAW) la (for that) wa-ja-duul (they would have found) laa-ha(from Allah SWT’s) ta-waa-bar (Forgiveness) Ra-ghee-maa( Mercy)17
al-laa-hum-ma (Oh Allah SWT) in-nee (verily I)as-a-lu-ka (I ask Thee) an(that) Tu-shaf-fi-’a(to intercede) fee(in) na-bee-yi-ka(Thine Prophet SAW)wa(and) Ra-suu-lu-ka (Thine Messenger SAW) Mughammadan Sol-al-laa-hu ( The Blessings of Allah SWT) a-lay-hi (upon him) wa (and) sal-la-ma(Peace) yow-ma(The Day) laa(no) yan-fa-’u(benefit) Maa-lu(wealth) wa(and) ba-nuun(sons) il-laa(except) man(who) a-taa(bring to) Allah SWT bi (with) Qal-bin(a heart) sa-leem (peaceful, pure)
wa(and) ‘an (that) tuu-ji-ba(Thou Answered) lil-(for) mag-fi-ra-ta (forgiveness) ka-maa(like) ow(or)
jabb-tu-haa(answer it) li-man(for one)
jaa-a-hu-fee(came to him) gha-yaa-ti-hi (his life).
Al-laa-hum-ma (Oh Allah SWT) ja-’al-hu (Make him SAW)ow-wa-lash (the first) shaa-fi-een (The intercessors) wa(and) a-ja-ghaas (successful) Saa-i-leen (of those who ask) wa(and) ak-ra-mal(the most honoured) ow-wa-leen(of the first) wal(and) Aa-gi-reen(of the last) bi-man-ni-ka(of who Thee )wa(and) Ka-ra-mi-ka(Thee Honoured) Yaa(oh) Ak-ra-mal-(Honoured) ak-ra-meen(of those honoured)

Rob-ba-naa (Our Lord) laa(do not)tu-zig-(deviate)Qu-luu-ba-naa(our hearts) ba’-da(after) ith(when) ha-day-ta-naa(Thou Guided us) wa(and) habb-la-naa(bestow on us) mil-la-dun-ka(Thine Presence) Ragh-ma (Peace) in-na-ka (Verily Thou are) an-tal-(Thou) wah-haab(Generous Bestower/Granter)

5. Now preapre to solaah for the Ighraam
Na-way-tu u-sol-lee sun-na-tos-so-laa-ti lil igh-raa-mi, ra-ka-tay-ni mus-taq-bi-lal- qibb-la-ti (facing the Qibla) a-daa-an (in its time) lil-laa-hi ta-’aa-laah (for Allah SWT)
6. After the Salaah make the Niyyah for Umrah
Al-laa-hum-ma in-nee(verily I) U-ree-dul (I wish/desire) ‘Um-ra-ta (Umrah/minor ghadj) fa-yas-sir-haa-lee(Please make it easy for me)21
Na-way-tu ‘um-ra-ta wa Agh-ram-tu(and I place myself in sacred ighraam) bi-haa (by it) lil-laa-hi (for Allah SWT) ta-’aa-laa(The Almighty, High)
7. Now Immediately, after the Niyyah express the Tal-bi-ya (response to The Divine Invitation)

8.Now Recite the Salawaat on The Prophet Mughammad SAW
9. Now Proceed to Makka reciting constantly the Talbiyyah

Al-laa-hum-ma (O Allah SWT)in-nee (verily I) Ash-ra-bu-hu(I drink it) mus-tash-fi-yan (as a healing) fash(then please) fi-nee(heal me)
19. Now proceed to Sa-faa - climb the little hill, face the Ka-ba and make this Niy-yah:
Bis-mil-laa-hir-ragh-maa (In the Name of Allah SWT The Compassionate)nir-ra-gheem(The Merciful)
Al-laa-hum-ma (O Allah SWT) in-nee(Verily I) u-ree-du(wish)an(that) as-’aa( saa-i) bay-na(between) Sof-fa(Safa) wal(and) mar-wah(Marwa) sa-ba-’a-ta(seven) ash-waat(circuits) sa’yal(Saa-i) ‘Um-ra-ta(of the Umrah) lil-laa-hi (for Allah SWT ) ta-’aa-laa (The Exalted Mighty)
20. after that Niyyah, Raise the palms of your hands 33
tiwards the Ka’ba and say:
Bis-mil-laa-hi( In the Name of Allah SWT)

wa- (and) lil-laa-hil(to Allah SWT) Ghamd(Is All Praise)
Now start walking -between the green lights- the men only jog in the first 4 circuits -women just walk
Do not talk to others, do not look around, do not push others concentrate on your Praising of Allah SWT, Asking for forgiveness, HIS Mercy, Freedom from the Jahannam, Appeal to Allah SWT to make you of the sincere adorers and servants of HIM SWT, confirm your belief, and The Oneness of Allah SWT - and to be entered into Jannah, bring the Salawaat -
then recite the Ayah:
In-nas-(Indeed) Sof-faa(The Safa) wal(and) Mar-wa-ta(and The Marwa) min(are from) sha-’aaaa-i-ril(The Sumbols) laah (of Allah SWT), fa-man(so whoever)Ghaj-jal(perform Ghaj)Bay-ta(The House) ow(or) wi’ta-ma-ra(performs the Umrah) fa-laa(so no) ju-naa-gha(blame) ‘a-lay-hi(upon him)ay-yat-tow-waa-fa( he walks) bi-hi-maa(between The two) wa(and) man (whoever)ta-tow-wa-’a( voluntray does) gayr(good) fa-(then) in-nal-laa-ha(indeed 34

21. Continue the Circuits with more athaar, dua, Praises, salawaat, Qur’anic Aayaat and Pleas for His SWT Mercy and Protection - Remember to face the Ka-ba at every Safa and Marwa raise your palms and Recite

11. After Zawaal(after the sun has passed its midpoint in the sky, STAND Face the Qiblah and Make your Duaas, this is The Moment of Appeal to Allah SWT for yourself and anyone else and the those who have died- May Allah SWT Accept your Ad-eeyah(Duaas) in shaa Allah Aameen
12. Now Jam Salaah in Thuhr’s Time, bring Asr Forward

14. Now you can make the Thikr and Duaa after Salaah
15. Now often stand in Qibla, sit and make dua, recite, Solawaat until shortly before Magrieb on Arafah and make the intention as you leave for Muzdalilfa to Jam Solaah Magrieb with Eshaai, as you leave for Arafah --Say:
Na-way-tu Ta-gee-ral(put back) Mag-rieb(The solaah of Magrieb), Li-(to) U-sol-li-haa(Solaah it)fil(in) waq-tul-(in The Time of) ‘I-shaa-i (Ishaai) Maj-muu-’a-tan(combine)
16. You will arrive at Muz-da-li-fa at the time of Eshaai Solaah - Now Nie-yah to Solaah The Full Magrieb Solaah, immediately followed by the Iqaa-ma for the Shortened Ishaai Solaah:

Na-way-tu, ‘u-sol-lee Far-dos-So-laa-til Magrie-bi, Tha-laa-tha (Three) Ra-ka-’aa-tin Majj-muu’a-tan (together/combined) ma-’al(with)
‘i-shaa-i (Eshaai) A-daa-an(Now, in this time) lil-aa-hi(For Allah SWT) ta’aa-laa (The Exalted)
Salaam out of Magrieb and Immediately I-qaa-mq for Ishaai:

17. The Time there make Thikr, Salawaat, Praises Duas and gather your 7 pebbles for The Jamaraat Akaba and also 21 for each day of Tashreeq (altogether 113 pebbles)
18. After 12 midnight or after Fajr the 10th Day of Thul Ghijjah (Eidul Adghaa) you leave Muzdalifa for Mina to throw the Big Jamarah, saying:
Rob-ba-naa (O Allah SWT) Aa-ti--naa(Grant me) fid-(in) Dunya(the world) gha-sa-na-tan (Goodness) wa(and) fil-aa-gi-ra-ti(in the Hereafter)
gha-sa-na-tan (Goodness) wa(and) Qi-nee(Save Us) ‘a-thaa-ban(the Punishment)-naar (The Fire)
19. Now leave for Mina
20. Go straight to the Big Jamarah and pelt him seven times and with each throw say:
Bis-mil-aa-hi Al-laa-hu Ak-bar (In the Name of Allah, Allah SWT Is Greater)
21. After Pelting move away from the Jamaraat and face the Qiblah and make this Dua:
Al-laa-hum-maj (O Allah SWT) ‘al-hu (Please Make it... for me) ghaj-jan(a Ghaj) Mabb-ruu-ran(one that is Accepted) wa(and) Sa’yan(Saai) Mash-kuu-ran (one of Gratitude to Thee) Wa(and) Tham-ban(sins) mag-fuu-ran (that are Forgiven by Thee) wa(and) ‘a-mi-lan (works) Soaa-li-gaan(That was good) Maqq-buu-lan (Accepted by Thee) wa(and) Ti-jaa-ra-tan ( and a spiritual trade) lan(that is not) ta-buur(free from Thine acceptance/42
that is Accepted by Thee) Yaa(Oh) ’A-li-ma(Knower) li-maa(for what is) fis(is in) Su-doo-ree(my chest/heart) Ag-rijj-nee(take me out) Yaa Al-laah(Oh Allah SWT) mi-nath (from) Thu-lu-maa-ti(the darkness) i-lan(towards/into) Nuur(The Light of Thee)
22. Now Clip your hair ( stay in Ighraam (The first release)
23. Takbier and proceed to Makka now
24. When You reach Makka go straight to the Kaba and perform the Tawaa-ful-i-faa-doa(Tawaaf of Abundance)
Nee-yah for The The Tawaaf of the Ghaj:
Al-laa-hum-ma(O Allah SWT) In-nee(Verily I)U--ree-du(wish to) To-waa-fa(The Circuit around the Ka-ba) Bay-ti-Kal( around Thine House) Gha-raam (That is Sacred)
Fa-yas-sir-hu(Make it easy) lee(for me) wa(and) Ta-qab-bal-hu(Accept it) min-nee(from me) sa-ba-’a-ta(seven) Ash-waa-tin(Circuits) Ta-waa-ful(The Tawaaf) I-faa-doa(of Abundance) lil-laa-hi(For Allah SWT) ta-’aa-laa(The Exalted High)
25. Turn Your Palms to The Black Stone in the 43
corner- in line with the Green light and say:
Bis-mil-laa-hi(In the Name of Allah SWT) Al-laa-hu Ak-bar(Allah SWT is Greater).. follow the same as in the Umrah Circuits - remeber evertime you reach the Black line or green line you must turn towards the Black Stone and repeat the above for the beginning of every tawaaf.
Don’t forget males jog the first three between the third corner and the Black stone corner and everyone say Rob-ba-naa Aa-ti-naa fid-dun yaa Ga-sa-na-tab wa fil aa-gi-ra-tu gha-sa-na-tan wa qi-naa a-thaa-ban-naar Wa add-gil-nal Jannata ma’al abbraar Yaa ‘Azeezu Yaa Gaffaar Yaa Robbal ‘Aa-lameen
26.Now again Solaah in-line with Maqaam Ebrahim the Salaah for the Tawaaf, The dua after the salaah

27. Make the Dua for Drinking the Zam Zam (see page 31) and proceed to the Safa for the Saai
28. The Niyyah for this Saai is Different:
Face the Qiblah standing on the hill of Safa and Say:44
Al-laa-hum-ma(Oh Allah SWT) in-nee(Verily I) U-ree-du(I wish) an(about to) As-’aa(move quickly) bay-na(between) Sofaa wal Marwa Sa-ba-’a(seven) ash-waa-tin(circuits) sa’-raal-i-faa-da-ti( The Saai of Ifaadah) lil-laa-hi (for Allah SWT) ta-’aa-laa (The Exalted)
29. Standing on the Safa Mound, Now raise your palms of your hands to the Kaba and say:
Bis-mil-laa-hi Al-laa-hu Ak-bar wa Lil-laa-hil-Ghamd (In the Name of Allah SWT The Greater and to HIM is all Praise
Then start you Saai:
Males slow jog first three between the green lights
and when you reach each hill repeat towards the Ka’ba Bis-mil-laa-hi Allaahu akbar wa lillaahil ghamd
30. Remember One Saai is from Safa to Marwa and the 2nd one is from Marwa to Safa - so you should end at Marwa for the Seveth Run Saai.
31. When you finish the Seventh walk, at Marwa, clip your hair and make this Dua:
Bis-mil-laa-hir-ragh-maa-nir-ra-gheem
Al-laa-hu Ak-bar 3x
Al-laa-hum-ma (Oh Allah SWT) Haa-thi-hi(This)Naa-si-ya-tee(my hair), bi-ya-di-Ka(In Thine Hand)

You are now fully free from your Igh-raam, You go to your hotel and freshen up and then Return to Mina for the Three Days of Tash-Reeq(Days of Radiation/Shining/Nuur/ Domestic Development(considering the Meat Available to many poor people), the cleansing of the Ghujaaj from sins) Alaghmdu lillaah

33. Pelt between Thur and Sunset- the small Jamaraat First the small then middle then large one - each throw with Bis-mil-la-hi Allahu Akbar with every throw(satan is there to be humiliated
34. After The Two or Three Days at Mina return to Makka and before you leave for home perform the Tawaaful Wi-daa’ (Tawaaf of Farewell)

35. After The Tawaaf, perform the two Ra-ka-aat of the Tawaaful Widaa’ behind the Ma-qaam Ebrahim, If not close then in line with it.
